Aug 17, 2017 A Walk in Eufaula

I went for a two mile walk today in Eufaula, AL.  Heat index was about 102 degrees.

I started out on this Creek Indian trail which was converted to a rail road in the 1800's.

The rail road was abandoned and is now part of the Rails to Trails movement.

Beautiful scenery as it crosses over Lake Eufaula.

Around the previous curve there is a path that leads up to a cemetery.

I had to stop and tell the old soldiers how sorry I was about the recent events occurring to dishonor their good names. Did these two own slaves?  I don't know but being privates I doubt it.  How long before someone starts ripping up their monuments I wonder?  I wonder if they even know that slaves are buried in the same cemetery just a few yards away?  When we die are we not all the same?
