Hike to the Chattahoochee Head Waters 09/04/19

It has been a long time since I have been able to go on a hike in the North Georgia mountains and I must say I have missed it.  Well, yesterday I was able to do a short hike to discover the beginning of the Chattahoochee River which is so vital as much of Georgia's main water source. So below are some stats and a short video of my adventure.  I hope you enjoy it.                                                                                                                                                                                                               Stats from the hike Video of the Headwaters

Comrades, greetings in the name of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.   With all the recent discussions about various kinds of drinks, I thought that I would throw in something about it, too.   In the Scriptures it is noted that Jesus turned the water into wine.   A lot of people interpret this to their own liking that it may justify what they do.   I personally have wondered about it myself for some time until one day the Holy Spirit revealed to me the spiritual meaning of the passage.   I am referring to the book of John 2:1-10. “ 1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: 2 And both Jesus was called , and his disciples, to the marriage. 3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. 4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come . 5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith un

Comrades, greetings in the name of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.   At this time of year we talk a lot about freedom.   We toss around words like freedom, liberty, justice, human rights, ect.   These words are easy to say and talk about but how many of us know the price that has to be paid to obtain what these words so boldly proclaim?   Those of you who have served in the military probably know more than others the high cost that is paid for these words while the rest of the world sits around and just talks about them.   My hat is off to you who serve or have served.   May God keep you safe and richly bless you and your families for all the sacrifices you have made.                 Jesus said in Luke 4:18 , “ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised” Here Jes

, greetings in the name of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.   I pray that everyone made it home safe and sound from Gettysburg.   For me it was a wonderful experience.   Not only did I get to participate with my comrades in arms I got to see some sites that I have never been to before.   These included Harpers Ferry, Winchester, Kernstown, Cedar Creek, Cross Keys, and Port Republic where the Jackson campaign ended in 1862.   I also found the site where the great General of Jackson’s Calvary, Turner Ashby, fell after his horse was shot out from under him leading the rear guard.   May he rest in peace.                 The one disappointment that I had was due to schedule changes. I was not able to deliver my sermon.   Fortunately, Chicago Dave asked me to read a scripture to him and a few others which opened the door to expound on the truth in God’s Word.   As for the rest of you I shall   try to deliver what I had in this news letter in an abbreviated form.   Much to the delight

Comrades, greetings in the name of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.   One thing that I do not like about organized religion is that too often I have seen the church let new converts slip through the cracks and go out the back door.   Some places are interested in numbers and they pride themselves on how many people get saved each Sunday.    They will give them a little book, pray with them, and then send them on their way (Come back next Sunday!).   I have too often seen the newly converted at the altar with a big question mark over their heads at the end of a service wondering, “Now what?”   If you are a mature Christian let me suggest that you help disciple one or more of the newly saved.   This is what we are called to do.   You may have a special calling or ministry in your life but all of us are called to teach the new Christian.   This is part of the great commission that Jesus gave to his people in Mat. 28:19. When a person first gets saved the angels are throwin
