Living History at Kennesaw Mtn.

Arriving at 02:00 on the 29th instant I unloaded my truck and set up my campsite on the left flank of the main camp.  The stillness of the night seemed eerie in the pristine moonlight night revealing a deer grazing nearby oblivious to the carnage that had taken place here. When I awoke I was glad to see large coffee pots warming on the nearby campfire.  After consuming coffee, hard boiled egg, raisin bread, and a V-8, we prepared for the day.  We were ordered to do 4 presentations for the public each day including different formations, uniforms, history of the units we were portraying which had fought here, weapons, tactics, and firing demonstrations. In between these demos, we had several tourists and visitors tour our campsite and we were given the opportunity to further teach them what these brave men had gone through. On Sunday, I held a church service but had to cut it short due to time constraints.  I pray that what the Lord wanted to present to the peopl...

The Battle of Kennesaw Mtn.

Well, tonight I am headed to Kennesaw Mt. where so many brave men died.  I go there so that visitors to the park will know, remember, and honor the sacrifices that these brave men made on that fateful day not so long ago.  Enjoy the video and realized that this song is based on a soldier's recollection of that bloody day.  No matter which side you believe was in the right it is up to us to teach posterity what they did here.  Let us never forget.

July 24th, 2017 Well, call this an excuse if you must but Sasha and I were all ready to go to the park when I realized my truck keys were still in the house.  Not too bad until you consider that my house keys are on the same ring.  Yes, I had locked myself out of the house!  Well, this just took all the wind out of my sails so Sasha had to content herself with nosing around in the ivy in my front yard while I waited on my daughter to come home and let me back in the house.  Better luck next time!                                                                 Sasha in the ivy             ...

A Brief History of the Water System at Fort Benning

Today Sasha and I went for a mile walk at Laurel Park in Gainesville, GA. This is one of my favorite city parks since it goes around tennis courts, a kiddie water park, baseball fields, on the shore of Lake Lanier, and finally through the woods. I want to get Sasha back in shape seeing as she has been sitting on her laurels way too long. Since I only get to see her as well as Edie and Ashley two days a week it is hard to do. In those two days I also have to maintain our vehicles, our yard, the house, my laundry, and anything else that goes along with a family. Believe me I am not complaining just seems that there is never enough time to do things. I am very thankful for the time I do have home and with my family. Below are some photos of the park. Hope you enjoy them.                                     ...
